With its roots in workwear, denim is pieced and patched. An exploded, deconstructed vintage denim jacket is slashed at the elbow and waist and is worn with a skirt fitted at the hip then flared to mid calf, pieced again, and with a delicate antique floral fluted and irregular handkerchief cotton hem. The play between masculine and feminine, hard and soft, darkness and light that lies at the heart of the house of Alexander McQueen couldn’t be more evident here.
